This supremely talented athlete came to Florida A&M University and helped build the school’s women’s track program into a perennial conference power under Head Coach Bobby Lang. Daughtry was a stellar field events ace who excelled in the shot put, javelin and discus, helping lead FAMU to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 1989 and 1991. She set school and conference records in the discus, with toss of 167 feet, 7 1/2 inches set in the 1990 Outdoor Championships which still remains the conference standard 19 years later.

Daughtry’s all-around performances in the MEAC championships earned her back-to-back Outstanding Female Performer awards as a freshman in 1989 and as a sophomore in 1990.
