Green was a standout coach for the FAMU golf team.  Under his leadership, the team celebrated its biggest successes since the era of the late Hansel E. Tookes, Sr.  His teams finished as the National Minority runners-up in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2014.  He was featured on HBO’s Real Sports with Brian Gumbel for having a stellar minority golf program.  He recruited and coached four National Minority Medalists and graduated his student-athletes at over a 95-percent rate.  During his tenure, the golf team was annually ranked in the top five among the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, and SIAC.

In 2012, he was selected to the African American Golf Hall of Fame and was also named “College Golf Coach of the Year” by the organization.  He served as president of the National Black College Golf Association from 2003-2013.  He fostered relationships with philanthropists including the Bill Dickey Scholarship Fund to bring in over $120,000.

One of his greatest accomplishments was saving the FAMU golf program which was cut because of funding. Green would raise over $30,000 in just over a month to allow the program to continue and it has continued to flourish to this day.

Green has served as chairman of the FAMU Sports Hall of FAMU Committee since 2023.
