Mission Statement

The mission of the Florida A&M University Sports Medicine Department delivers traditional athletic training services and sports medicine services to the student-athletes of Florida A&M University. The services we provide can be categorized in four ways:

1. Injury prevention

2. Recognition, evaluation, and treatment of athlete injuries and illnesses

3. Rehabilitation and reconditioning of all injuries incurred by the student-athletes

4. Health and wellness education

Our goal is to provide the highest quality health care to all of our student-athletes so that they can compete to their best abilities. In providing these services, FAMU strives to utilize the most efficient, current, affordable technologies, and the best equipment available to us. We are committed to continuing our education so that we are using the best and most modern practices.

The underlying philosophy of the Sports Medicine Department is that the needs of the student-athlete come first. We also expect our certified athletic trainers to maintain the highest standards of quality consistent with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Code of Professional Practice.

        • Payment will be covered by the individual student-athlete or by their athletic scholarship.
      • International Student-Athletes:
        • Their information needs to be sent separately so they can be added to the school-sponsored international health insurance.
