Tracy Parker came to the Florida A&M University Volleyball program in 1993 as
a highly touted volleyball recruit. A three-sport student-athlete at Comstock High
School in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Parker turned down scholarship offers from
Eastern Michigan, Michigan State, Memphis State and Southern to don the
orange and green. She descended on the volleyball program with the perfect mix of enthusiasm, determination and courage. When she was entrusted with the reigns to the single setter offensive system as a freshman, she embarked on what would become one of her most prolific seasons. With major offensive and
defensive contributions, she helped propel the team to 13-2 in the MEAC and
29-13 overall. Parker finished her freshman season as the Rattlerettes’ Single
Season Assist Leader with 1575, leader in assists/game with 10.862, ranked 2nd
in the nation (NCAA) in service aces (140) and had 252 digs. Despite her 5”4-
inch frame, she also had 70 kills and 23 blocks against hitters who were usually
much taller. Parker garnered Florida A&M Rookie of the Year honors, made the
Sarah Yates Invitational All-Tournament Team (4 years), was selected 2nd Team
All-MEAC and MEAC Tournament Honorable Mention.
During her remaining seasons, Tracy continued to post performances worthy of
team and MEAC recognition. In 1994 she was the assist average leader for the
second year in a row with 10.667/game and lead the team to consecutive championships in 1995 and 1996. Parker was the MVP for both the Sarah Yates
Invitational and MEAC Championship Tournaments and team MVP in 1996.
Parker graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. Degree in Industrial
Engineering. She attended the George Washington University School of Law in
Washington, D.C. on a merit scholarship. During her matriculation she served as
the Assistant Coach for the Morgan State Volleyball team and helped guide them
to a MEAC Tournament victory over her alma mater, Florida A&M in 2000.
