2013: A Preseason MEAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year choice, Fleming struggled mightily behind a youth-laden offensive line, and a change in offensive scheme, suffering 15 sacks… He passed for 1,016 yards and 6 TDs, against 13 interceptions, reversing his numbers from 2012 (16 TDs v. 5 INTs, 2,157 yards), completing 106 of 201 passes… He passed for a season-high 146 yards and one score against Morgan State (10-5-13), and tossed a scoring pass and 11 completions (19 attempts) to go with 139 yards against Samford (9-14-13)…. He was also the club’s fourth leading rusher, scrambling for 215 yards on 62 carries and two TDs in 10 games…. He suffered a season-ending foot injury against South Carolina State (11-9-13).
2012: This past season Fleming, became the first Rattler quarterback to start back-to-back seasons, since the 2003-04 seasons, when Ben Dougherty was the FAMU signal caller. Also, Fleming is the first FAMU quarterback to pass for more than 2,000 yards in a season since, Dougherty in 2004.
Fleming started in all 11 of the Rattlers games as he finished the season with 214 completions in 308 attempts with 16 TDs and five interceptions. In addition, he finished the season with 194 yards rushing on 86 carries with one TD and one reception for six yards, earning Second Team All-MEAC honors.
Fleming garnered MEAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on September 24, 2012 for his performance against Delaware State (9-22-12) as he passed for a season high 399 yards by completing 30 passes in 37 attempts with three TDs and rushed for 28 yards on nine carries for 427 yards of total offense. The next week, Fleming garnered 256 passing yards as he completed 30 passes in 35 attempts with two TDs against Southern University (9-29-12) in the Bank of America Football Classic. Fleming passed for the 250-plus yard plateau against North Carolina Central (11-10-12) as he passed for 270 yards by completing 29 passes in 41 attempts with one interception.
2011: Fleming, who broke his way into the Rattler starting lineup, coming off the bench in the second half of the Atlanta Football Classic, leading FAMU to 21 points to rally past Southern University, 38-33. He finished the contest with 76 yards passing as he completed six passes in eight attempts.
The next week against Delaware State, Fleming made his first collegiate start, for 245 yards and a TD, as he completed 14 passes in 29 attempts, while rushing for another score, leading the Rattlers to a 34-7 win over the Hornets.
In the Rattlers first-ever win over South Carolina State in ten seasons, Fleming threw for a season high 297 yards, completing 34 passes in 40 attempts, as the Rattlers scored two fourth quarter TDs to defeat the Bulldogs, 27-24 at Orangeburg, S.C.
Fleming finished the 2011 season with 1,622 passing yards on 131 completions (218 attempts), with 11 TD passes and just five interceptions, while rushing for two TDs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Fleming lettered in both football and basketball at Ribault High School in Jacksonville, Fla. He finished his senior season passing for 2,700 yards to go along with 25 passing TDs and six rushing TDs, earning First Team All-Coast honors in football. In basketball, he reaped All-Space, Super 24, All-First Coast and All-Gateway honors.
As a junior, Fleming passed for 1,500 yards and 16 TDs and rushed for three TDs and passed for 950 yards and 10 TDs, his sophomore season. He through five TDs passes in a game as he tallied 351 yards in the air , by completing 22 passes in 25 attempts.
PERSONAL: Damien Fleming was born on May 7, 1993 to Coustace Fleming and Edwin Hill in Jacksonville, Fla. He has two siblings April Fleming and Barong Fleming. Fleming is currently majoring in Physical Therapy.
