2014: Blanton averaged 41.1 yards per kick (65 attempts) in 12 games. He averaged a season-high 51.2 yards per kick in the season opener against Jackson State (8-31-14), lofting a season long 77 yard kick. Blanton finished the year with 12 kicks of 50 or more yards, while 16 of his kicks were downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, with five (5) fair catches and four (4) touchbacks.
2013: Blanton averaged 39.6 yards per kick in his first year as a regular fourth down specialist, compiling 2,933 yards on 74 boots, with a long kick of 78 yards…. He had 12 kicks of 50 yards or more, with 15 downed inside the 20-yard line…
2012: Blanton was redshirted.
High School: Blanton was a three-sport athlete at Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville, Fla., as he lettered in football, soccer and track and field… As a senior, he finished the 2011 season nine-for-11 in field goals with his longest being for 48 yards, while tallying a 42.0 punting average; Also had 80 percent of his kickoffs for touch backs. Served as team Captain his senior season, while earning First Team All-Area and Atlantic Coast Honors and participated in the Shrine Bowl.
Personal: Colby Bennett Blanton was born on March 5, 1994 to Missy and Buck Blanton in Jacksonville, Fla. He has two siblings, Tucker Blanton and Charles Blanton. His brother Tucker is a member of the Jacksonville Univeristy football team. Also Blanton is a member of the Chets Creek Church. He is currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering and enjoys weight lifting in his spare time.
