NORFOLK, VA. (Dec.5) – In a game defined by 73 fouls, the Rattlers fell to the Norfolk State Spartans, 91-87, at Echols Hall on the campus of Norfolk State University.  The Rattlers were led in scoring by Jamie Adams, who scored 24 points and Reggie Lewis who scored 14, going 4-of-9 from the three-point line.  Jomari Bradshaw chipped in 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field.

Far and away, the story of the day was the fouls.  Norfolk set team records, both foul shots made and foul shot attempts.  FAMU was hit with 43 fouls in the game, and could never get a momentum going.  Adams, Bradshaw, Trey Kellum and Bobby King all fouled out of the ballgame.  A total 100 foul shots were taken in the game.

FAMU's 43 fouls and NSU's 41 made free throws are both records for NCAA Division I this season in a regulation contest.

NSU, who made 41 of their points from the free throw line, was led by Malcolm Hawkins, who scored 20 points.  He made three field goals and 13 free throws.  Pendarvis Williams scored 20 points, Anell Alexis and Riley May scored 13 each, while Jamel Fuentes and Brandon Good scored 10 points each.

The Rattlers scored 33 points from the bench, to 22 for the Spartans.  FAMU also held the edge in the paint with 38 points to 26 for NSU.  The Rattlers also carded 28 second chance points.

The Rattlers will take on the Hampton Pirates, Saturday at 6 p.m. in MEAC play at the Hampton Convocation Center on the campus of Hampton university.
