COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- The Florida A&M men's basketball team fell to the Southern Jaguars 73-70 at The Gateway Center Arena at College Park Friday on 3-pointer with less than a second to spare.

The Rattlers had five players score in double figures, led by Tyler Shirley, who had 16 points. Micah Octave added 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals and Kaleb Washington chipped in as well with 13 points.

How It Happened

After falling behind 43-32, Florida A&M went on a 5-0 run with 1:57 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Octave, to narrow its deficit to 43-37, a score that would hold until halftime.

Florida A&M came out of halftime clicking on all cylinders, going on a 7-0 run to seize a 44-43 lead with 17:24 to go in the contest. Southern re-asserted control, outscoring the Rattlers 30-26 the rest of the way to hand Florida A&M the 73-70 loss. Florida A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 33 points in the lane.
