Ranger JC:   Dean scored a season high 25 points and had 20 rebounds in a game for the Ranger Junior College.    He finished his senior season averaging 12 points and eight rebounds per game his sophomore season.

High School:   Dean was a four-year letter winner in basketball at Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas, where he averaged 25 points and eight rebounds per game his senior season.  In his junior season of competition, he averaged 12 points and five rebounds per game.    Dean recorded a season high 35 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in one game for Sharpstown.
