Lady Rattlers sixth after Day 1 at MEAC Championships

LANDOVER, Md. | The Florida A&M University women's indoor track and field team opened the 2020 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships sixth after Day 1 at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.
 
The Lady Rattlers picked up five points in the 5000m as Bethune-Cookman leads the field with 21 points, Maryland Eastern Shore is second with 14 points, followed by Norfolk State (13), North Carolina A&T State (8) and North Carolina Central (5). Tied with Florida A&M with five points is Howard, as Delaware State (3) and Morgan State (3) finished the Day 1 scoring.
 
In the 5000m, Mercy Rotich and Emmax Kiplagat placed sixth and seventh, respectively, at 19:39.00 and 19:43.97. Shalet Mitei finished 10th at 20:35.74.
 
The second day of the MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.
