Florida A&M University student-athlete Jah'kyla Morton of the British Virgin Islands secured the territory's first medal at the 53rd CARIFTA Games, claiming silver in the Under-20 high jump April 4-6 at Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George's, Grenada.
The performance marks Morton's fourth medal in five years at the annual Caribbean junior athletics championship.
Morton's silver echoes her breakthrough moment in 2023, when she also claimed the territory's first-ever CARIFTA medal — a silver in the Under-17 girls high jump at the Games in Nassau, Bahamas. She cleared 1.70 meters in that competition to finish second.
Competing in the Under-20 division in 2026, Morton again finished second on the podium, continuing her progression within the region's premier junior athletics competition.
The CARIFTA Games, held annually, serve as a key development platform for emerging track and field talent across the Caribbean.
