GREENSBORO, NC (May.2) – The Florida A&M men's and women's track teams are competing in round one of the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field championships earning one men's gold medal and one women's gold.
FAMU thrower Sasha-Ann Lebert took first place int he discus, with a toss of 46.07m (151-02) to take first place and earn 10 points for the Lady Rattlers. she bested Norfolk State's Kiara Howell by six feet in her win. Lebert will compete int he shot put and weight throw in the meet.
Elias Chesire took gold for the Rattlers. He repeated as the winner in the 5,000m run, taking first palce in 14:51.84. Chesire's win earned 10 points for the Rattlers, with more expected to come as he is favored in the 3,000m steeplechase and should press the pack in the 1500m run.
