High School: Wright attended Woodland Hall Academy in Tallahassee, Fla. He was valedictorian of his class in 2008. He was also a part if the World Team galliards in speed skating. 

Personal: Shamari Jarrel Wright was born on August 19, 1989 to Lillie and Kenneth Wright in Thomasville, Ga. He has one sibling, Kenyi Wright (30). Wright is a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Fla. He is currently majoring in political science and in his free time he enjoys listening to music, watching television and sleeping.
