2010: Newkirk, was moved from linebacker to defensive end last season in the nine games that he played in. He finished the season with 20 tackles (7UA, 13 Asst), 4.0 tackles for a loss of 29 yards, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. 2008: Newkirk started in all 11 of the Rams' games as a true freshman. He finished third on the team in tackles with 48 ( 31 solos, 17 asst), 6.5 tackles for a loss of 27 yards, three sacks for a loss of 19 yards, once forced fumble and one quarterback hurry. He collected a season high 11 tackles against North Carolina A&T (9-6-08) and tallied tackles against South Carolina State (9-27-08). Then recorded a career high 14 tackles performance against Delaware State (11-8-08).
