Florida A&M University is pleased to welcome Alicia ‘Mouse’ McCray to the women’s basketball team. The incoming freshman from West Palm Beach, Fla., stands 5’10”. The former Palm Beach fab five player is described by Palm Beach’s local newspaper, the Sun Sentinel, as a “fundamentally sound all-around player.”
McCray attended Trinity Christian Academy in Lake Worth, Fla. where she was coached by her father Luther McCray. Her many accomplishments include, two-time MVP, state champion, four- time district champion, first team all-state, first team all-county, and Palm Beach’s fab five.
During McCray’s high school basketball career she averaged 15.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and she scored 45 three-pointers last season. When asked about her favorite move on the court, McCray said, “My best move on the court has to be a step-back three-point shot that my father taught me.”
McCray is the youngest child to her former coach and father, and mother Tanya McCray. She has two older sisters, Taiyanna Daffin, 26, and Danielle McCray, 20, who is a power forward on the University of Miami women’s basketball team.
