Lady Rattler women's basketball team is thrilled to have the return of solid defender in Patrice S. Collie.
The 21-year-old, West Palm Beach native stands at 5’10”, making her one of the key defenders on the team. Last season Collie averaged 10 points and eight rebounds per game.
Although the star player was recruited to FAMU’s women basketball, she also made accomplishments in other sports during her high school career at Royal Beach Community High School in Royal Palm Beach, Fla. Collie was a four-year letter winner in basketball, flag football and track and field. When asked what sport she would play if she was not playing basketball she said, “I would play football because I always played it when I was younger. I played in a tackle league back in 2004, where I scored 30 touchdowns and grabbed 12 interceptions in more than 10 games.
Collie continued by explaining how she was also inspired by her older brother, Reidel Anthony, cornerback on the NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the future Collie said she plans on having basketball camps to help the youth in the community of her hometown. “I think it is always important to remember where you came from, so I would love to host many different basketball camps,” Collie said.
