BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Junior
Tahnyjia Purifoy was selected All-SWAC Second Team, the conference office announced on Friday.
Purifoy played in 27 games and logged 878:22 of court time, finishing with 289 points, 69 rebounds, 107 assists, 55 steals and three blocks. She shot 37.0 percent from the field, 24.3 percent from 3-point range and 81.7 percent from the free-throw line, where she connected on 116 of 142 attempts.
Her best scoring performance came on Jan. 15 at Mississippi Valley State, when she poured in a season-high 22 points. She also scored 21 points in a win over Southern on Jan. 10 and added 19 points against Texas Southern on Feb. 7. As a playmaker, she posted 10 assists against Southern and another 10-assist effort against Alcorn, underscoring her value as both a scorer and facilitator.
She reached double figures in scoring 16 times and consistently impacted games on both ends of the floor. Her ability to create offense, pressure opposing ball handlers and convert at the foul line helped make her one of Florida A&M's most dependable performers throughout the season.
