TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University women's basketball head coach
Bridgette Gordon has unveiled the Rattlers' 2025–26 schedule, highlighted by a challenging nonconference stretch and a competitive Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) lineup.
The Rattlers open their season on the road with a tough three-game stretch beginning November 3 at Florida State, followed by trips to Howard (Nov. 8) and George Mason (Nov. 10). FAMU will make its home debut on November 15 against Samford at the Al Lawson Center in Tallahassee.
The early schedule continues with tests against several regional powers, including road matchups with Central Florida (Nov. 21), Mercer (Nov. 25), and South Alabama (Nov. 30). The Rattlers then return home to host Jacksonville on December 2, followed by nonconference battles against West Georgia (Dec. 21) and Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 29). A December 17 visit to Florida in Gainesville highlights the month's most high-profile matchup.
Conference play begins on January 3 when FAMU faces rival Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach. The Rattlers then open their SWAC home slate against Grambling State (Jan. 8) and Southern (Jan. 10). Other key home matchups include Jackson State (Jan. 22), Alcorn State (Jan. 24), Prairie View A&M (Feb. 5), Texas Southern (Feb. 7), and Alabama State (Feb. 21).
The Rattlers' road conference schedule features visits to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mississippi Valley State, and the Alabama schools, along with late-season trips to Southern (Feb. 26) and Grambling State (Feb. 28). The regular season concludes on March 5 with a home matchup against Bethune-Cookman.
Head coach
Bridgette Gordon, entering her third season leading the program, said she's eager to see how her team responds to the level of competition.
"This schedule is designed to challenge us from day one," Gordon said. "Playing tough nonconference opponents will prepare us for the grind of SWAC play and be prepared for the conference tournament."
