LEXINGTON, Ky. | Joseph DeRosier's incredible debut season came to an end Wednesday (May 22) in the first round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Florida A&M freshman qualified for the east prelims in the 110-meter hurdles and nearly advanced to the quarterfinals.
With the"Top 3" in each heat continuing on, DeRosier finished fourth in 13.96, behind competitors from Auburn (13.44), Coastal Carolina (13.90), and in-town rival Florida State (13.93). The Rattler placed 29th overall in the 45-person field.
Season highlights saw DeRosier named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week five times between the indoor and outdoor seasons; he also medaled in every 110-meter hurdle final in the latter.
FAMU has five athletes participating in the NCAA East Prelims. On Thursday (May 23), Nya Blocker and Rori Lowe will compete in the 100 meters, and Katelynn Smith in the 400 hurdles. Blocker will also take on the 200 meters. Watch the action live on ESPN+. Live results are also available.
