CHICAGO, Ill. --  Florida A&M's track and field program delivered a statement performance at the Windy City Invitational, piling up personal records, nationally relevant marks and multiple podium finishes as the Rattlers and Lady Rattlers continued to build momentum in the indoor season.

Florida A&M's sprint group set the tone early, led by freshman Janaree Kinchen, who won the women's 60-meter final in 7.34 after qualifying at 7.48q in prelims. Her winning time moved her to No. 1 among HBCU performers and into the national conversation (NCAA top-50 range), while senior Kiersten Clark added a strong runner-up-level effort for FAMU's overall day with a 7.41q prelim and 7.44 in the final. Clark's prelim mark also registered among the top HBCU and Division I times this season.

The hurdles were another major bright spot for the Rattlers. Sophomore Joseph DeRosier blazed through the men's 60 hurdles prelims in 7.74q, a facility-level mark, then returned to place second in the final at 7.85. On the women's side, sophomore Arayana Ladson continued her rise with a three-round progression that included 8.68q in prelims, 8.36q in the semis (PR), and 8.43 in the final for sixth. Her semifinal mark placed her among the top HBCU and NCAA performers this year.

In the quarter-mile races, Florida A&M showed depth and balance. On the men's side, Dawson Baker (49.07) and freshman Aydan Myers (49.13) finished fifth and seventh, respectively, with Myers adding a new HBCU-ranked mark. Tyon Reed also contributed with a 49.83 PR. The Lady Rattlers were even sharper in the women's 400, where Amani Kinon ran 55.97 for third and Diandrenique Gaines followed at 56.04 for fourth, both PR-level efforts with strong HBCU rankings. Laure Louis added a quality 57.01 to cap a productive event group.

Florida A&M's middle-distance unit produced key points and consistency. Senior Tara Bert doubled back for top finishes in two events, taking third in the women's 600 (1:33.33, PR) and second in the women's 800 (2:10.26). On the men's side, senior Kirk Dawkins clocked 1:51.17 for fourth in the 800 and returned for 4:19.85 in the mile, while William Shelton posted 1:53.52 (season best) and Myers added an 800 PR (1:55.50).

In the field events, FAMU continued to show versatility. Sophomore Josiah Gaynor highlighted the jumps with a runner-up finish in the men's invitational long jump at 7.48m (24-6.50). Sophomore Jade-Ann Smith took second in the women's long jump at 5.67m (18-7.25) and also competed in the triple jump. Zekira Snow added fifth in women's long jump at 5.55m (18-2.50), while Ladson placed fourth in the invitational long jump at 5.73m (18-9.75). In the vertical jumps, Randell Pompey cleared 1.98m (6-6) in the men's high jump and freshman Jah'kyla Morton posted 1.59m (5-2.50) in women's high jump.

FAMU also received strong developmental contributions from younger athletes, including PRs and HBCU-ranked marks by Ty'yanah Adams (60m), Snow (60m), Jaade McBride (mile), and others — a sign that the roster's depth is translating into measurable progression week to week.
