BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Florida A&M track and field program kicked off the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on a strong note, winning two medals on the very first day of competition (Feb. 17). The women's distance medley relay, featuring Alesia Douglas, Lacie Deboskie, Madison Gordon, and Niya Coleman, earned a gold medal (12.35.79) while Dajon Clark claimed silver in the long jump (7.36 meters / 24' 1.75"). Witnesses also saw Kimeone McLeod accomplish an incredible feat, as the senior now holds the SWAC's championship record in the women's 60-meter hurdles.

McLeod's record-breaking and first-place time (8:36) ensured her participation in Sunday's final; collectively, the Rattlers solidified 17 spots in various finals. Leading the way, Rori Lowe secured three finals appearances after finishing fourth in the 60-meter prelim, fifth in the 200-meter prelim, and sixth in the 400-meter prelims. Another standout qualifier was Nya Blocker, who claimed first place in the 60 meters and second place in the 200 meters.

Sunday's championship events begin at 8:30 a.m. CT / 9:30 a.m. ET. This portion of the meet will also be livestreamed beginning at 12 p.m. CT / 1 p.m. ET.
