BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Camila De La Rosa was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday (Oct. 24). The award marked her fourth this season and the ninth consecutive week that Florida A&M has received SWAC recognition.
De La Rosa garnered league attention after picking up her second Rattler double-double in the 3-2 setback against Alabama A&M. She tallied a team-high 16 digs, 34 assists, and three blocks (one solo / two assisted). At Alabama State, the graduate setter totaled 20 assists and eight digs.
Next up: FAMU will meet Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Grambling State in the second SWAC Cluster (Oct. 29-30).
