What: HBCU Showcase presented by KPMG
When: Saturday, January 14
Where: The Armory | New York, N.Y.

Florida A&M track and field begins its indoor season with a premier event hosted inside a premier facility. The 2023 HBCU Showcase sponsored by KPMG is first on the schedule, and while there, the Rattlers will compete against 30 of the nation's best HBCU programs.

The meet is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Balance Track & Field Center inside The Armory. It will also be live-streamed via RunnerSpace.

Welcome, Coach Ellenwood | Florida A&M recently welcomed Garfield Ellenwood II as the new Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, the department announced January 3. The 23-year coaching veteran boasts collegiate and Olympic successes. He spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach at the University of Maryland, where he guided a student-athlete to an NCAA Championship qualification. And his impressive resume also lists 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference indoor (men's) and outdoor (women's) championship titles as the associate head coach at Alabama State University (2019-21).

Ellenwood has coached and mentored 13 NCAA Division I first-team All-Americans in sprint and hurdle events and three national champions, one of which was a three-time champion in the hurdles. He has also assisted several athletes to the Olympics and is a former competitor himself.

Recapping Last Season | Noting only those returning this season, the Rattlers concluded their previous indoor slate with 15 'Top 10' marks on the SWAC 2022 performance list.
