ATLANTA, Ga. | Former Florida A&M standout offensive lineman Nathaniel "Nate" Newton will be enshrined into the 2022 Black College Football Hall of Fame Class today.
Newton played at Florida A&M for the legendary Rudy Hubbard from 1979 to 1982 and earned All-MEAC in 1980. Newton was part of 25 wins with the Rattlers, including the 1979 Rattlers team that defeated the Miami Hurricanes 16-13 in Miami. In 1983, Newton went undrafted and signed with the Washington Football Team but did not make the final roster. He played for the USFL's Tampa Bay Bandits the following two years. After the USFL folded, Newton returned to the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent most of his career (1986-98). During his time in Dallas, Newton went to six Pro Bowls (1992-1996, 1998), was named to the All-Pro Team twice (1994, 1995), and won three Super Bowls (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX). Newton spent his final season with the Carolina Panthers (1999) before retiring.
