Rattlers Sweep SWAC Volleyball Awards for Second Time

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Rattlers are on a streak with the wins, and SWAC honors as the Rattlers sweep the SWAC awards for the second time this season. 
 
Brooke Lynn Watts was named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and Newcomer of the Week for the second straight week as Brooke Hudson earned her fourth Defensive Player of the Week award. 2021 SWAC Setter of the Year, Irem Ucar, earned her third Setter of the Week Award.
 
Brooke Lynn Watts - Offensive Player of the Week & Newcomer of the Week
 
Brooke Lynn Watts was on the attack in Alabama as she led the Rattlers with 31 kills in the wins versus Alabama State and Alabama A&M. Watts averaged 3.88 kills per set and led the team with 32.5 points (4.06 points per set). Watts had a season-high 21 kills in the (3-2) win versus Alabama State. Watts added a service ace and scored the match-winning point to complete the comeback versus Alabama State after being down 2-0. On the defensive end, Watts had 33 receptions and 17 digs (2.13 digs per set). Watts is currently ranked sixth in the league in kills (162) and points (183).
 
Brooke Hudson - Defensive Player of the Week
 
Brooke Hudson kept the ball alive for the Rattlers' offense as she led the team with 34 digs (4.25 digs per set) as the Rattlers beat Alabama State (3-2) and swept Alabama A&M on the road. Hudson currently leads the league in digs (290).
 
Irem Ucar - Setter of the Week
 
Irem Ucar continued to set up her attackers as she led the Rattlers with 85 assists (10.63 assists per set) as the Rattlers beat Alabama State (3-2) and swept Alabama A&M on the road. Ucar's 48 assists versus Alabama State was a single-match high this season. Ucar leads the league in assists (358).
