Tampa, Fla. | The Florida A&M men's and women's track & field program returned to action this weekend, putting in a solid performance in the USF Bulls Invitational. It was FAMU's first track meet since COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 spring outdoor season and 2021 indoor track & field indoor slate.
On the men's side, Jalyn Scott won the men's 400 hurdles, clocking in at 51.67. Scott also earned a top five finish in the men's 200 hurdles finals (21.61).
Pache Caldwell also earned a victory for the Rattlers, claiming a win in the men's long jump finals with a distance of 7.38 meters. He also placed third in the men's high jump (1.98 meters).
Scott and Caldwell are two of the nation's top competitors, with Scott ranking tenth nationally in the 400 meter hurdles and Caldwell ranking 20
thin the long jump.
Rachel Robertson produced one of the best finishes for the Rattler women, earning a second-place finish in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.68 meters. Robertson also landed a third-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 11.86 meters.
Emerald Jacobs put up a strong performance in the 800 hurdles, finishing second (2:29.27).
Junior,
Jonae Harris, placed third in 100 hurdles, turning in a time of 14.36, finishing just behind runners from South Florida and Albany.
Tracking back to men's side, M'Kharis Lindsey (14.31 meters) and Xavion Lockwood (14.30 meters) placed fourth and fifth respectively.

Next Up
The Rattlers return to action this Saturday in the return of the FAMU Relays. Attendance will be capped at 250 people. Admission is $10. $5 for kids 12 and under. Admission is free for FAMU students with valid student ID.
