Rattlers Bound for NYC

The Rattlers are off to the Big Apple for the third annual HBCU Showcase.

What:  2025 HBCU Showcase 
When: Saturday, Jan. 18
Where: Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory | New York, N.Y. 

The Florida A&M track and field resumes its indoor season at the third annual HBCU Showcase, sponsored by KPMG, this Saturday, Jan. 18. The invitational will air live on Peacock beginning at 2:30 p.m. 
 
Confirmed participants include: Florida A&M University, Bowie State University, Central State University, Chicago State University, Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Huston-Tillotson Univ, Johnson C. Smith University, Lincoln University, Miles College, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, Prairie View A&M University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, University of the District of Columbia, Virginia State University, Virginia Union University, West Virginia State University, and Winston Salem State University.
 
Quick Hits (Clemson Opener)
  • Tara Bert, who led the women's cross-country team in every race this past season, became the first Rattler to claim a first-place finish in the indoor season, winning the mile (5:12.97) at the Clemson Opener.
  • Kirk Dawkins  placed second in the men's mile, recording the fastest time of any collegiate athlete in the field. 
  • Nya Blocker (7.42) and Dajon Clark (6.72) finished second in their 60-meter finals.
  • Additional podium finishes included Alesia Douglas (600 / 1:32.99) and the women's 4x4 (Nya Blocker, Madison Gordon, Lacie Deboskie, Alesia Douglas / 3:49.02). 
 
NCAA Standings
Florida A&M made a statement at the Clemson Opener, with seven podium finishes and an event victory, and several Rattlers positioning themselves in the "Top 50" of the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List.
