Savannah, Ga.| The Florida A&M golf team opened up the 2021 season with a solid performance in the Invitational at Savannah Harbor, hosted by William and Mary. The Rattlers turned in a third place performance, shooting a 12-over par 876 during the three-round event.
It was the highest FAMU has ever placed in the 16-team tournament.
The lone HBCU participating in the event, FAMU fired an even-par 288 in each of the first two rounds, but battled windy conditions on Sunday afternoon, scoring a 12-over 300. No team shot under-par in the final round.
Individually, the Rattlers had three golfers finish in the Top 10.
Senior
Mulbe Dillard led the way with a strong performance, finishing fifth shooting a 1-under 215 (73-69-73).
Prince Cunningham (72-73-73) and
Ethan Mangum (70-71-77) both finished 2-over to end the event tied for ninth place.
Mahindra Lutchman tied for 46
th after registering a 10-over 226 (74-75-77) while
Cameron Riley tallied 14-over 230 (73-79-78) to finsh 66th.
FAMU finished third behind Mercer (861) and Western Carolina (873). Rounding out the top five was Belmont (878) and Wright State (880).
