BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Jan. 23) – The Florida A&M Rattlers had several top 10 finishes, highlighted by an impressive first place finish in the coveted 4x400m relay, today at the UAB Blazer Invite at the Birmingham Crossplex Arena.
The Florida A&M “A” team, took first place in the 1600m relay, with a time of 3:12.23. The tem finished a full five seconds ahead of the time of the UL-Monroe team who took second place in 3:18.12.
Sprinter Shayne Rodney had a solid day, taking second place in the 60m dash (6.91) and 200m dash (21.84). Dennis Pugh got in the action as well, coming in in 22:14 in the 200m dash, which was good for fifth place. Pugh would also pull an eighth place finish with a 7:04 performance in the 60m dash.
Troy Pollard took second place in the 800m run, edged by USF runner Alex Hoffman, by less than a second. Pugh carded a time of 1:54.23, while Hoffman ran to a 1:53.43 finish. McDaniel Olivier partnered with Pollard for the second top 10 finish, placing eighth in 1:56.05.
Distance runner Joseph Garcia rounded out the Rattler top 10 finishes with a ninth place finish in the mile run. Garcia ran a time of 4:31.89.
