TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 4) - Kevin Elliott celebrated Senior Day with a pair of TDs as the Florida A&M Football team held on for a 26-20 win over North Carolina A&T, here Saturday afternoon at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
N.C. A&T would build a 13-0 lead on a pair of TD runs by Mike Mayhew as he scored on runs from two and 16 yards out.
Elliott would score his first TD of the game with 13:50 left in the half on a 63-yard reception from quarterback Damien Fleming.
Dominique Drake scored the Aggies' final TD of the game on a nine-yard run with 11:01 to go in the second quarter, giving N.C. A&T a 20-6 lead, capping a six play, 65-yard drive.
Elliot would score his second TD of the game on a 10-yard pass from Fleming, with 6:09 left in the second quarter, cutting Aggies' lead to 20-14.
Trevor Scott nailed a pair of field goals from 41 and 42 yards out to the knot the game at 20-20 going in the break.
The second half would be all Trevor Scott as he connected on field goals of 40 yards out with 11:05 left in the third, followed by a 33-yard field goal with 4:41 left in fourth.
FAMU (6-3, 4-2 MEAC) was paced by Eddie Rocker as he rushed for the century mark for the first time on the season with 107 yards on 12 carries with his longest rush being for 59 yards.
Fleming finished the game completing 16-of-33 passes for 254 yards with two passing TDs. Brian Tyms and Elliott led the Rattler receivers. Tyms led the receivers in receptions with five catches for 88 yards, while Elliott led the receivers in receiving yards with 96 yards on three catches.
Devan Robert led the FAMU defense as he finished with a game-high 11 tackles with seven solos. Nicolas Hollinghead finished with seven tackles, with five of those being solos.
N.C. A&T (4-5, 3-3 MEAC) was led by the conference's leading rusher Mayhew, as he rushed for 80 yards on 22 carries with a pair of TDs. Lewis Kindle passed for 246 yards as he completed 19-of-26 passes with two interceptions as the Aggies signal caller.
Wallace Miles led the N.C. A&T receivers with 159 yards receiving on 12 catches.
D'Vonte Grant and Brandon Hoover led the Aggie defense as they both finished with eight tackles each and seven solos each.
FAMU will return to action on Nov. 12 as they will travel to Durham, N.C., to take on the North Carolina Central Eagles in a 2 p.m. kick at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
Notes: The FAMU secondary has tallied 20 interceptions on the season, the third most interceptions in school history. The Rattlers are just two interceptions shy of 22, the second most in school history recorded by the 1999 Rattler defense.
FAMU picks up their seventh straight win over the Aggies. The last time N.C. A&T defeated FAMU was during the 2003 season with the Aggies winning 22-16.
This was first time, that FAMU's head Coach Joe Taylor and North Carolina A&T's Rod Broadway faced each other as head coaches on the field of play.
