Biography

Matt Schaeffer is a talented pitcher signed by coach Jamey Shouppe in his first recruiting effort at FAMU.  The right-handed pitcher amassed several accolades during his high school career.

The Port Saint Lucie, FL., resident went a 4-1 with a 1.92 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 36 innings during his senior year at John Carroll Catholic High School. Schaeffer was selected to the FACA All-State Academic baseball team and was honorable mention on the Scripps Treasure Coast All-Area team.  

His older brother, Chris,was a catcher at N.C. State in the ACC, and now plays in the Toronto Blue Jays' organization.  He also has a younger brother, Evan, 3, who enjoys playing outside and learning new puzzles.  His father, Frank, is in his first season as the Rattlers' pitching coach, while his mother Debbie works with the State of Florida.
