Florida A&M falls 62-57 to Texas Southern

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M men's basketball team got a 28-point performance from the bench, but fell 62-57 to the Texas Southern Tigers at home Saturday.

The Rattlers (8-13, 5-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Micah Octave, who secured a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Antonio Baker tacked on 11 points and four steals and Kaleb Washington added eight points.

Florida A&M pulled down 38 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Texas Southern's 33, led by Octave's 10 boards. The Rattlers also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 17 rebounds into five second chance points.

Florida A&M did a great job disrupting Texas Southern shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Miles Ndalama led the way individually for the Rattlers with two rejections.

How It Happened

After falling behind 16-8, Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run with 9:53 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Baker, to narrow its deficit to 16-14. The Rattlers then closed the rest of the gap and grabbed a 31-30 lead heading into halftime. Florida A&M got a great contribution from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 15 of its 31 total points.

Texas Southern then erased the Florida A&M lead in the game's final quarter for a 62-57 comeback victory. Florida A&M capitalized on seven Texas Southern turnovers in the period, collecting eight points off those turnovers.
