TALLAHASSEE, FL --The Florida A&M men's basketball team came up just short in a 66-65 loss to the Jackson State Tigers at home Monday.
The Rattlers (8-10, 5-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Kaleb Washington, who had 17 points. Jordan Chatman tacked on 16 points and Miles Ndalama helped out with 10 points.
Antonio Baker pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the Florida A&M offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 10 second chance points.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 33-30 advantage, Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run with 2:01 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Micah Octave, to increase its lead to 39-30. The Rattlers then maintained that lead and entered halftime with a 41-32 advantage. Florida A&M relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down eight shots to account for 24 of its 41 points.
Jackson State proceeded to take a 54-51 lead before Florida A&M went on a 6-0 run to seize a 57-54 lead with 7:43 to go in the contest. Jackson State re-asserted control, outscoring the Rattlers 12-8 the rest of the way to hand Florida A&M the 66-65 loss. Florida A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 24 points in the lane.
