HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --The Florida A&M men's basketball team got a 20-point performance from the bench, but fell 72-65 to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on the road Saturday.
The Rattlers (8-11, 5-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Tyler Shirley, who had 16 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Chatman tacked on 14 points and two steals and Antonio Baker helped out with 12 points off the bench.
Florida A&M out-rebounded Alabama A&M 35-31 in Saturday's game, paced by Shirley's nine boards. The Rattlers also pulled down 13 offensive rebounds and scored eight second chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 21-5, Florida A&M went on a 10-0 run with 6:36 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 21-15. The Rattlers deficit remained the same as they entered halftime trailing 26-20.
Alabama A&M kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 63-50 advantage before Florida A&M went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Baker's three, to shrink the deficit to 63-57 with 1:20 to go in the contest. Alabama A&M responded and outscored the Rattlers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 72-65. Florida A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 20 of its 45 total points.
