Sanders' dagger shot leads Florida A&M past Grambling 91-84

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jaquan Sanders hit a dagger 3-pointer with 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter to put Florida A&M up 85-77, and the Rattlers secured a 91-84 win against the Grambling Tigers at home Monday.

The Rattlers (5-9, 2-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Sanders, who had 24 points, four assists and two steals. Micah Octave tacked on 20 points and eight rebounds and Kaleb Washington helped out with 18 points off of the bench.

The Florida A&M offense was strong from three-point land, making 12 threes on 30 attempts. Octave hit five treys for the Rattlers in the contest.

How It Happened

After falling behind 22-13, Florida A&M went on a 9-0 run with 9:24 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Sanders, to tie the game at 22. The Rattlers then proceeded to grab a 39-36 lead heading into halftime. Florida A&M relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down seven shots to account for 21 of its 39 points.

Florida A&M kept its lead intact before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Tyler Shirley's jumper, to grow the lead to 54-44 with 14:27 to go in the contest. The Tigers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Rattlers still cruised the rest of the way for the 91-84 win.
