ATLANTA, Ga. – Florida A&M volleyball displayed resilience and standout individual performances Friday at the GSU Sports Arena, pushing Evansville to five sets before falling 3-2 and showing strong defensive play in a 3-0 setback to host Georgia State.
Against Evansville, the Rattlers came out swinging with 30 total kills and an impressive 17 team blocks, more than doubling their opponent at the net. Sophomore
Farah Farooq led the charge with 20.5 points and 17 kills, while
LaDonna Trantham delivered 19.5 points on 21 kills and five block assists
FAMU's front line proved dominant, limiting Evansville to just a .039 hitting percentage in the second set while capturing momentum with steady blocking and service pressure.
In the second match against Georgia State, the Rattlers continued their defensive presence, tallying 11 total blocks as a team. Freshman
Sydney Whitfield provided an offensive spark with eight kills on a .563 hitting clip, while
Kristen Moore added five kills and steady play in the middle
Despite the final scoreline, Florida A&M's younger players gained valuable court time, showcasing depth that will strengthen the roster as the season continues.
