DULUTH, Ga. -- Florida A&M turned the opening day of the Invitational into a showcase, not only seizing a 16-shot team lead at -24, but also placing two players atop the individual leaderboard. The -24 is a program record.
Twin Leaders for FAMU
Sascha Robinson fired rounds of 69–68 to reach -10, mixing steady birdies with confident shot-making.
Phalatphon Viboonviriyasakul matched that total with 70–67, closing his round in style to join Robinson at the top.
The Rattlers didn't just place one player in contention — they placed two, sending a clear message: this is Florida A&M's tournament to control.
Garcia in the Hunt
Adding to the firepower,
Emilio Garcia sits tied for 4th at -4. His opening-round 66 set the tone early before a tougher 73, but he remains firmly in striking position.
Depth on Display
Even with Miguel Llas (+3) and
Taylor Bell (+17) fighting through difficult stretches, FAMU's depth held strong. When two players are tied for the overall lead and another is inside the top 5, the team is nearly untouchable.
The Competition
Howard's Michael Perusse sits in 3rd at -6, trying to keep pace, while Tennessee State's Jackson Pieratt made a big move with a 65 to reach -4. But both teams still trail by wide margins in the team race.
Rattlers in Control
From the very first tee shots, the Orange & Green established momentum. Robinson and Viboonviriyasakul carried the torch, Garcia added insurance, and the team as a whole sent a statement that the road to the trophy runs through Tallahassee.
Bottom line: Florida A&M isn't just leading — they're dominating. With two players tied for the individual lead and three inside the top five, the Rattlers have turned Day 1 into a celebration of depth, confidence, and championship form.
