TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M men's basketball team (8-11, 5-3 SWAC) shot 50 percent from beyond the arc on the way to a 95-79 win against Alabama A&M Saturday (Feb. 1) evening. The wins extended the Rattlers current winning streak to five.
Five players scored in double figures, led by Milton Matthews, who had 25 points, six rebounds and four assists. Sterling Young tacked on 23 points off the bench and Roderick Coffee III chipped in with 13 points and five assists.
The Rattlers will return to the Al Lawson Center Monday (Feb. 3) in a 7 p.m. match-up against Alabama State.
How It Happened
After falling behind 13-10, Florida A&M went on a 5-0 run with 13:53 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Young, to take a 15-13 lead. The Rattlers held onto that advantage, heading into halftime with a 34-32 lead, with 18 points coming from beyond the arc.
Following intermission, the Rattlers continued to widen their lead, expanding it to 78-67 before going on a 12-0 run, finished off by a Shaqir O'Neal three with 2:41 remaining.
