TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --The Florida A&M volleyball team knocked off the Southern Lady Jaguars 3-1 (25-12, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23) Sunday on the Lawson Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium.
The Rattlers hae won the SWAC Volleyball Championship for the fourth time in five years.
FAMU was led by a double-double from Sydney Whitfield, who registered 13 kills and 12 digs on the day. Farah Farooq also added 14 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Victoria Santana chipped in for with 24 digs to go with seven blocks from Farooq.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Rattlers won the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-12. Florida A&M led by 14 points at 24-10 before finishing off the set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked seven Southern attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 14 Southern attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 2 | Florida A&M lost set two 25-20 to even the match 1-1. The Rattlers trailed by as many as six points as Southern grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was tied up eight times before the Lady Jaguars took over the lead.
SET 3 | Florida A&M then got back on the winning track, emerging victorious in set three and taking a two sets to one lead in the match. The Rattlers took the set 25-22 propelled by a solid showing on the attacking side. Florida A&M registered a .371 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set win. The Rattlers opened up an 8-2 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there.
SET 4 | Florida A&M kept the momentum going, claiming the match win with a 25-23 fourth-set victory. The Rattlers persevered in a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured three lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team was able to grab a lead larger than three points along the way. The Rattlers win came in a stanza where 17 of their 25 points came via the kill.
