TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida A&M fell 41-16 to Jackson State at home Saturday night.
The Tigers improved to 6-2 on the year and 4-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Rattlers fell to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
RJ Johnson III led Florida A&M's passing attack with 132 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns without throwing an interception.
Johnson III paced the Rattlers rushing attack by accumulating 31 yards over the course of the game, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
Jordan Edwards reeled in four catches for 49 yards.
Ah'mare Lee showed out for the Florida A&M defense, collecting six tackles, 1.5 TFL, and one recovered fumble.Â
Defensively, Florida A&M held up fairly well against the Jackson State passing attack, holding the Tigers to 104 yards through the air. In part because of that strong defense, Florida A&M receivers out-gained their Jackson State counterparts 132-104.
How It Happened
After falling behind 3-0, Florida A&M responded with a field goal with 2:42 left in the second quarter to tie it up at 3-3.Jackson State then scored to take a 24-3 lead before the Rattlers put a touchdown on the board to narrow the advantage and make it a 24-10 game.
After Jackson State scored to increase its lead to 41-10, Florida A&M got on the scoreboard again with 1:53 left in the fourth quarter to narrow the advantage and make it a 41-16 game. Both teams played the rest of the game without scoring.
