LAFAYETTE, La. (Sept. 21) | The Florida A&M volleyball team returned to the winner's column with a Saturday victory over Jacksonville State (25-18, 25-18, 25-17). The match concluded the Rattlers' participation in the Ragin' Cajuns Classic, where they went 2-1 with losses to Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana.
FAMU will begin its Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule next Friday (Sept. 27) at Jackson State.
How It Happened
SET ONE | Tied at 18-all, the Rattlers crowned the opening set with seven consecutive points, highlighted by three kills from Brookelynn Thomas.
SET TWO | The Rattlers outscored Jacksonville State, 12-2, in the early goings en route to a 13-7 lead. Brooke Lynn Watts recorded six kills in the set, at one point, recording three in a row.
SET THREE | The final set contained seven ties and four lead changes. The score sat at 8-8 until a kill by Iyonnie Sanford catalyzed a 14-2 run.
Game Notes
- Watts finished with a match-high 15 kills, while Thomas added 11.
- Watts also recorded a team-high seven digs.
- Kalia Todd added four blocks.
- FAMU has now recorded five straight-set wins this season.
