LAFAYETTE, La. | The Florida A&M volleyball team dropped a straight-set match (19-25, 22-25, 14-25) to Southeastern Louisiana Friday (Sept. 2) in game one of the Ragin' Cajuns Classic. The Rattlers will have a brief break before returning to Earl K. Long Gym Friday evening for a 7 p.m. tilt against tournament host Louisiana.
SET ONE | In a bit of a slow start, the Rattlers trailed 7-2 to start the set. They crept within two, 12-2, with the help of three straight kills but weren't able to pull any closer.
SET TWO | The highly contentious second set accented 13 ties and three lead changes. Neither team led by more than four points, and FAMU held its last at 16-15.
SET THREE | The final set proved to be the toughest for FAMU; the visitors were down by five, 17-12, but allowed the Lions to distance themselves on an 8-2 run.
Brookelynn Thomas finished with a team-high nine kills. Florida A&M attackers were also helped by a team-high 15 assists from Alexandra Koleva.
Defensively, two Rattlers recorded double-digits digs -- Tinons Galmés had 13 and Jada Rhodes added 10.
