GULFPORT, Miss. --The Florida A&M Rattlers put together an admirable performance on Thursday, but ultimately came up short, falling to the Jackson State Tigers by the score of 5-3.
Freshman Zoryana Hughes (15-4) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (25-19) and took the loss. The right-hander went five innings, giving up four runs, one earned, on six hits, allowing three walks and striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Florida A&M scored three times, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of sophomore Kayla Aldridge. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as Jackson State added one run to their tally on the way to a 5-3 final.
