TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M men's basketball added guard Sterling Young, a transfer from Charlotte.
"Sterling is a really good offensive player who was an all-conference player at the best juco conference in the county," said head coach Patrick Crarey. "He spent this last year playing in the AAC. His experience on that level will be a huge asset to our program."
Young joined Florida A&M after spending the last season at Charlotte. Young appeared in five games and tallied 12 points, three steals, two assists, and two rebounds across 36 minutes. He scored his first basket as a Charlotte 49er against Stetson. He had a season-high nine points, two assists, and two steals versus Greensboro.
Before joining Charlotte, Young made 52 appearances and 31 starts over two seasons for the Beavers in Pratt, Kansas. In his sophomore season, he finished second on the team in scoring with 15.9 points per outing while shooting 45 percent from the field, 39 percent from 3-point land, and a sparkling 83 percent from the charity stripe. He also added 3.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 steals across 30 starts in 2022-23. For his two-year Beavers career, Young averaged 10.2 points with similar shooting splits to his sophomore campaign.
