TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M basketball added their first student-athlete under new head coach Patrick Crarey in guard Milton Matthews from St. Thomas University (FL).
"Milton is one of the best shooters in college basketball," said Crarey. "He led the NAIA in threes made per game two years in a row, and this year, he led in total threes while shooting 40% both years. He's an exceptional teammate, and I'm elated that he decided to join me at FAMU."
Matthews joined Florida A&M after spending the last two seasons with Crarey at St. Thomas, where he led the team in scoring and was named First Team All-SUN both seasons. During the 2023-24 season, Matthews averaged 18.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Matthews also set a new program single-game scoring and three-point record when he scored 45 points and made 11 threes versus Penn State Greater Allegheny. Matthews scored 20+ points in 11 games and made three or more threes in 22 games. During the 2022-23 season, Matthews averaged 18.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Matthews scored 20+ points in nine games and made three or more threes in 17 games. Matthews is an elite three-point shooter, as he made 100+ threes in both seasons while shooting 40% in both seasons.
