TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida A&M fought hard in a 88–54 setback to Florida State on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
The Rattlers battled throughout against an ACC powerhouse, holding their own on the boards and forcing the Seminoles into 22 turnovers.
Forward Tyler Shirley was unstoppable for the Rattlers, scoring a game-high 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds in 34 minutes of play. Shirley's inside presence and ability to create his own shot kept FAMU competitive early and gave the Rattlers several scoring runs that energized the visiting crowd.

Guard Jaquan Sanders added nine points, seven assists, and strong defensive play, while Micah Octave chipped in six points and six rebounds. FAMU also received solid rebounding from Anquan Boldin Jr., who pulled down seven boards against FSU's much taller frontcourt.
Despite a tough shooting night — 30.9% from the field and 16.7% from three-point range — FAMU continued to attack the rim and drew contact throughout the game, converting 78% of its free throws.

The Rattlers' defensive intensity forced several Florida State turnovers, showing glimpses of a defensive identity built on pressure and hustle.

After trailing 45–25 at the half, FAMU outscored FSU in several stretches of the second period, highlighted by a 9–0 run midway through the half sparked by Shirley and Sanders.
