Rattlers fall 7-3 to Mississippi Valley State in season finale

GAME 2 | Mississippi Valley State 7, Florida A&M 3
TALLAHASSEE, FL --Senior Grant Harrison was dominant on Tuesday, striking out eight Mississippi Valley State hitters over 3.2 innings of work, but it was not enough as the Florida A&M Rattlers lost to the Delta Devils 7-3.

In addition to his eight strikeouts, Harrison went 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits and walking none for Florida A&M (27-25, 22-8). Junior Tanner Walker also made an impact on the mound for the Rattlers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing no hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers were trailing 4-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Jordan came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board.

The Rattlers deficit expanded to 5-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Florida A&M picked up a run on senior Ty Jackson's two-out solo home run off of senior Armando Sierra, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Delta Devils.

Mississippi Valley State built their lead to 7-2 before the Florida A&M offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 7-3 in the eighth. The Rattlers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Broedy Poppell. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
