Baseball prepares to wrap up season against Mississippi Valley

FAMU will honor 16 seniors on Saturday

Tallahassee, FL. - Florida A&M baseball will wrap up the 2024 regular season as they will host Mississippi Valley State, beginning tomorrow at 5 p.m. The Rattlers swept the Delta Devils in Itta Bena a month ago. FAMU will say goodbye to 16 seniors on Senior Day prior to the series finale on Saturday. The Rattlers look to clinch the SWAC East as they sit in first place three games ahead of BCU.

Senior's Career Highlights

Joseph Pierini spent the last four years with the Rattlers and compiled 207 hits, 46 doubles, seven triples, and 15 home runs. Pierini also drove in 120 runs. Pierini's best hitting season came in 2022 when he had 71 hits with a .317 batting average. In 2023, Pierini had 68 hits and a career-high 54 RBIs. Pierini also set the Rattlers single-season record in 2023 with 21 doubles.


Cameron Kelly spent the last two years with the Rattlers and saw 20 mound appearances, pitching 16 innings. In those 16 innings, Kelly struck out 21 batters, including a career-high four strikeouts at Troy in 2023. Kelly had a multi-strikeout performance in five outings. 


True Fontenot is one of the Rattlers' top hitters in his lone season at Florida A&M, as he is one of many to reach 50+ hits. Fontenot is also one of two to have 40+ RBIs. Fontenot had his best game of the season earlier when the Rattlers beat Southern. Fontenot went 5-5 with four RBIs. Fontenot was named SWAC co-hitter of the week once this season.


Xerian Ximinies is in his second season with the Rattlers and appeared in 14 games, pitching 12 innings. In those 12 innings, Ximinies struck out ten batters, including a season-high three strikeouts versus Mercer. Ximinies picked up a win versus Prairie View A&M.


Adam Haidermota is in his fourth season with the Rattlers and has recorded 191 hits, 29 doubles, ten home runs, and 113 RBIs. Haidermota is having a career year with highs in hits with 57 and RBIs with 36. Haidermota is also batting over .300 for the first time in his career.

Logan Sharpton is in his lone season with the Rattlers and appeared in six games, pitching in 4.2 innings. Sharpton struck out two batters in his appearances.


Ty Jackson is in his second season with the Rattlers and has been one of the best hitters for the Rattlers, compiling 125 hits, 17 doubles, nine triples, ten home runs, and 61 RBIs. In 2023, Jackson had a standout season with 76 hits and 30 RBIs with a .373 batting average. Jackson was named to the All-SWAC Second Team and participated in the inaugural MLB HBCU Swingman Classic. 


Evan Badger is in his third season with the Rattlers and has recorded 39 hits, six doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 33 RBIs. Badger is having his best hitting season as a Rattler, recording a career-high in hits with 22, doubles with three, and RBIs with 16. Badger is also batting over .300 for the first time in his career.


Janmikell Bastardo is in his second season with the Rattlers and has been one of the best hitters for the Rattlers, compiling 129 hits, 20 doubles, eight triples, 18 home runs, and 84 RBIs. Bastardo had a career season in 2023, recording 71 hits, 13 doubles, 13 home runs, and 54 RBIs. Bastardo was named to the All-SWAC Second Team, the SWAC All-Tournament Team, and participated in the inaugural MLB HBCU Swingman Classic. 


Raylan Wagner has spent the last three seasons with the Rattlers, making 45 appearances and pitched 96.1 innings. Wagner started eight games and compiled a 5-4 record. Wagner struck out a total of 66 batters. Wagner recorded a career-high eight strikeouts in his first-ever appearance in the Orange and Green versus Mercer. Wagner also picked up a big win for the Rattlers in the 2023 SWAC Tournament versus Alabama State.


Andrew Ginther is in his lone season with the Rattlers and appeared in 21 games, pitching in 36.1 innings. Ginther struck out 28 batters, including a season-high five versus Prairie View A&M. Ginther also had a 2-1 record, earning wins over Alabama A&M twice. 


Josh Scragg spent the last two seasons with the Rattlers and appeared in 30 games, pitching in 24.2 innings. Scragg's struck out 14 batters. Scragg's struck out two batters in three different games.


Grant Harrison spent the last two seasons with the Rattlers and appeared in 46 games, pitching in 62 innings. Harrison picked up 75 strikeouts in the two seasons, including a season-best 49 strikeouts in 2023. Harrison picked up three wins and four saves in the two seasons. Harrison had a career-high seven strikeouts in 2023 versus Alabama A&M.


Tre Simmons spent the last two seasons with the Rattlers and appeared in 20 games, pitching in 51 innings. Simmons struck out 50 batters in the two seasons, including a career-high seven in 2023 versus Mississippi Valley. Simmons stepped up for the Rattlers in the 2023 SWAC Tournament, earning the win versus Alabama State to send the Rattlers to the SWAC Championship game. Simmons earned three wins in his two seasons with the Rattlers. 


Sebastian Greico is in his second season with the Rattlers and has been one of the best hitters for the Rattlers, compiling 106 hits, 28 doubles, four triples, 26 home runs, and 113 RBIs. Greico had a record-breaking season in 2023, recording 17 home runs, breaking Florida A&M's single-season home run record. In 2023, Greico was named to the All-SWAC Second Team and the SWAC All-Tournament Team. Greico has also been named hitter of the week once this season. 


Jared Townsend is in his second season with the Rattlers and appeared in 11 games, throwing in 11 innings. Townsend threw six strikeouts, including a high of two versus the Florida Gators. In the 11 appearances, Townsend didn't allow a hit in five of them.
