All Florida A&M starters reach base in 9-8 win against Alabama State

TALLAHASSEE, FL --Florida A&M received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Rattlers put nine runs on the board and knock off the Alabama State Hornets 9-8 Sunday.

Senior Grant Harrison (1-1) got the win out of the bullpen for Florida A&M (15-17, 10-2). The right-hander went 2.2 shutout innings, giving up one hit.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers were trailing 7-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run triple off the bat of senior Ty Jackson.

The Rattlers kept the deficit at 7-5 before taking the lead in the fifth. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of junior Janmikell Bastardo, which brought the score to 8-7 in favor of the Rattlers.

Alabama State fought back to even the ballgame at eight before Florida A&M reclaimed a 9-8 advantage in the seventh inning. The score remained 9-8 for the rest of the game, as Florida A&M held on for the win.
