Baseball falls 11-4 to Mercer

TALLAHASSEE, FL --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Florida A&M had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 10 Rattlers on base in an 11-4 setback at the hands of the Mercer Bears on Wednesday.

Senior Dallas Tease (0-5) started and took the loss on the mound for Florida A&M (15-18). Senior Josh Scragg was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Florida A&M got on the board thanks to senior Sebastian Greico's RBI double with one out.

The Bears broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the fifth inning, when the Rattlers got back on the scoreboard. Florida A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Adam Haidermota, which tightened the Bears lead to 9-2.

Mercer built their lead to 10-2 before the Florida A&M offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 10-4 in the seventh. The Rattlers notched two runs in the frame, the important hit being an RBI double from Haidermota. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as Mercer added one run to their tally on the way to an 11-4 final.
